As the Head of Brass for Haileybury, Associate Principal Trumpeter with the Australian Pops and Philharmonic Orchestra, John is a highly experienced Trumpet Stylist and a significant contributor to the brass community, training and leading the next generation of brass players. He was also the Lead Trumpeter for the Australian Radio Rhythm Orchestra (a professional Dance Orchestra), and the Johnny Hawker Band for may years.
John has held senior positions with the Melba Conservatorium, Trinity Grammar, Camberwell Grammar and Ivanhoe Girls Grammar. His specialised brass training process has enabled players of all brass
instruments to develop their skills well in advance of their peers, and to also
become players and teachers of brass. John is a committed community
contributor, driven to opening up the world of brass music and opportunities
for others, and is determined to help re-establish the Brass Band as the
cultural foundation of Australian community music making.
